Recognizing the need to further improve its communication strategy and build capacity among members of the organization, the public relations and complaints office of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force will be having two (2) one-day communications workshops for police officers on the 5th and 6th March, 2019 at the Fisheries Conference Room commencing at 9:00 am daily.
The theme of the workshop is “New Perspectives towards greater relations: Re-enforcing Effective Communications as a force for Change”.
The facilitators will of this workshop will be Ms. Corleta Ollivierre, veteran media practitioner and Former Manager of the National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC Radio 705) and Inspector of Police, Mr. Hawkins Nanton.
Over seventy (70) officers including the gazettted officer’s corps and rank and file officers will be trained in the following areas:
- Community /customer relations/Neighbourhood watch programs
- Relations with the media
- Prejudices and stereotypes in communication.
- The police image (off the job).
- Social media- friend or foe.
An official opening ceremony will take place on Tuesday March 5, 2019 commencing at 9:00 am. Commissioner of Police, Mr. Colin John will deliver remarks at the ceremony and Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr. Hon. Ralph Gonsalves will deliver the keynote address.
