The estimates of revenue and expenditure for the 2019 fiscal year were presented by this country’s Minister of Finance, the Hon. Camillo Gonsalves and approved by members of parliament, during a meeting at the house of assembly yesterday.
The 2019 estimates amounted to 1 billion, 67 million, 3 hundred and 43 thousand, 2 hundred and 83 dollars, representing an increase of 7.4 per cent over the approved budget for 2018.
Speaking in parliament yesterday, Minister Gonsalves said 2019 is made up of recurrent expenditure of 8 hundred and 44 million, 7 hundred and 63 thousand, 7 hundred and 3 dollars, with a capital expenditure of 2 hundred and 22 million, 5 hundred and 79 thousand, 5 hundred and 80 dollars.
The 2019 budget is financed by a current revenue of 6 hundred and 56 million, 5 hundred and 90 thousand, 7 hundred and 75 dollars and capital receipts, totalling 4 hundred and 10 million, 7 hundred and 33 thousand, 5 hundred and 8 dollars.
Minister Gonsalves says a number of new positions have been created in the public service as well as new posts have been created in the ministry of health, wellness and the Environment and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Trade.
Parliament has been suspended until Monday, February 4th at 4 pm.
