St. Kitts & Nevis Observer in a report says all 47 passengers and crew members aboard the inter-island ferry Apple Syder were safely rescued on Monday after the vessel experienced severe difficulties and began to sink.

The incident occurred just minutes after the ferry departed from Basseterre on its routine voyage to Nevis. The vessel’s sudden complications prompted a swift emergency response from the St. Kitts and Nevis Coast Guard and other local rescue teams.

Dramatic video footage circulating on social media showed the ferry partially submerged. In the footage, passengers can be seen wearing life jackets and floating in the water as rescue personnel worked to pull them to safety.

Government officials are actively monitoring the aftermath of the incident. Both Dr. Hon. Terrance Drew, the Prime Minister of St. Kitts & Nevis, and Mark Brantley, the Premier of Nevis, confirmed that they have been briefed on the situation
