Patrons Call For "Clash Of The Bands" In Vincy Mas

3 Min Read

Carnival patrons are calling for a resurgence of live band music with the inclusion of “Clash of the Bands” on the annual Vincy Mas calendar of activities.

If your taste is predominantly nostalgic then it’s more than likely you were among the thousands of Vincentians who converged at the ArnosVale Netball Complex on March 18th for what was deemed, the most anticipated show of the year so far.

” Clash of the Bands” an event hosted by the (CDC) Carnival Development  Corporation had a mixture of youth and maturity from Bomani of HS Phaktor to Godfrey Dublin of the eternal Touch.

The band Resurrection kicked off the evening’s performance and brought the crowd to life. Signal took to the stage and did exactly what their name suggests to give the green light for more of what was in store. Signal’s Lead vocalist Luther was energetic and whipped up patrons into a frenzy with his versatility. Let’s just say; no one can do it like Luther.
Exodus took the vibration to an even higher level as Ken Wiseman seems to have lost no energy from his era. The veteran performer was fit as a fiddle, displaying no obvious signs of aging.

Dressed in what could be termed as a galactic outfit, with his trademark sunglasses to complete his attire, Wiseman had the crowd swinging along with him. Then he slowed down the rhythm and mesmerized the audience with the band’s version of Elton John’s  “sun going down on me”.

But the band most fitting tribute for the night went to the now deceased member Gerard “Rasum” Shallow.

Touch later brought the house down, and we mean a literal touch down, with songs like “man can’t tek bout; kangaroo; hope you get in this time, and if that was not enough “ah taking way somebody woman”.

The vibrations from the instruments on stage  electrified the atmosphere and live band music, in Vincy, came alive again. The arrival of intermittent rain simply evaporated into the party atmosphere that loomed over the ArnosVale netball complex.

Touch vocalist Godfrey has kept his melodious voice in top shape…his sweet tones bellowed clearer than ever, leaving us with only two words, in 2017, to describe Touch; “Forever Gold”.

VincyMas is now set to regain its true meaning, and as patrons told news784, the 10 days of revelry from June to July have now caught their full attention. But, the Clash of the Bands should a must on the annual calendar.
