Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Godwin Friday is scheduled to travel to Antigua and Barbuda to participate in the 78th Meeting of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Authority, taking place from June 21 to June 22, 2026.
The two-day meeting will convene regional Heads of Government and leaders to deliberate on pressing priorities for the OECS. Key topics on the agenda include economic development, regional integration, climate resilience, security, and ongoing cooperation among Member States.
A significant highlight of the meeting will be the official transition of leadership. In accordance with the Organisation’s rotational leadership arrangement, Prime Minister Friday will officially hand over the Chairmanship of the OECS Authority to the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Hon. Gaston Browne.
Accompanying Dr. Friday on this diplomatic mission are Protection Officer Corporal Desrick Quashie, Ambassador Allan Alexander, Senior Advisor Randy Cato, and Senior Advisor and Ambassador Kevin Hope.
While the Prime Minister is out of the country, executive duties will be assumed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Disaster Management and Immigration, Hon. Major St. Clair Leacock, who will serve as the acting Prime Minister.
The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines reaffirmed its dedication to championing the interests of its citizens through active participation in international and regional partnerships. The administration emphasized its continued commitment to collaborating closely with other OECS Member States to tackle mutual challenges and drive sustainable growth and development across the region.
