Cruise ship to be named in Barbados
P&O Cruises’ newest ship, the 5,200-passenger Arvia, will be named in Barbados on March 16 in a “world-first beachside ceremony.”
P&O Cruises CEO Paul Ludlow said, “We always seek to do things differently to create unforgettable moments for our customers.” Arvia will spend her first season sailing in the Caribbean, so it’s right to celebrate her christening in one of our favourite ports of call.
The naming event will involve famous British performers and presenters. Live global broadcast.
Ludlow said the naming celebration “will showcase our wonderful new ship Arvia, Barbados, and some very unique surprises.”
He said, “The ship will be anchored off one of the island’s most magnificent beaches, so the audience at home can see both the ship’s innovative interior design and the shore performances and events.” It’s a must-see.
Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley commended P&O Cruises for “the extraordinary event”
Arvia will sail to the Canary Islands for a Christmas cruise, then to Barbados for the 2023/24 winter season.
