CONSULTANT CHARGED WITH THREE COUNTS OF DECEPTION
On September 5, 2026, police arrested and charged Liane Jaxon-Defreitas, a 33-year-old consultant of Green Hill, with three counts of deception.
Investigations revealed that on January 1, 2026, the accused allegedly dishonestly obtained $500.00 ECC from a 48-year-old legal secretary of Richland Park, with the intent of permanently depriving her of it.
The accused was further charged with dishonestly obtaining $1,300.00 ECC from a 25-year-old massage therapist of Bequia on July 31, 2026, with the intent to permanently deprive her of it.
Lastly, the accused was charged with dishonestly obtaining $1,300.00 ECC from a massage therapist of Bequia on August 8, 2026, with the intent to permanently deprive her of it.
All offences were committed in Kingstown. Jaxon-Defreitas appeared before the Kingstown Magistrate Court on September 7, 2026, where she pleaded not guilty to the charges. She was granted composite bail in the sum of $4,000.00 ECC with one surety.
As part of her bail conditions, Jaxon-Defreitas was ordered not to have any contact with the complainants, surrender all travel documents, and report to the Calliaqua Police Station every Thursday between 6:00 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Stop notices were also placed at all ports of entry and exit.
Two trial dates were set in relation to the separate complainants. The first trial is scheduled for March 1, 2026, and the second for March 16, 2027.
