The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force has issued several charges following investigations into separate incidents of assault, theft, and grievous bodily harm.
Diamonds Village Labourer Charged with Assault
On July 25, 2026, authorities arrested and charged Tyrese Bute, a 23-year-old labourer residing in Diamonds Village, with the offence of assault. Investigations indicate that on July 6, 2026, Bute allegedly struck a 31-year-old labourer from South Rivers in the head with his hand while in Diamond Village. Following his arrest, Bute was granted station bail in the sum of $2,000.00 ECC with one surety. He is scheduled to answer the charge at the Colonaire Magistrate Court on July 30, 2026.
Avocado Theft Leads to Fine and Compensation
In a separate matter, Marko Horne, a 51-year-old labourer also of Diamonds Village, was arrested and charged with theft on July 25, 2026. Horne was accused of stealing 116 avocados, with an estimated value of $580.00 ECC, from a 46-year-old contractor living in the same area.
Horne appeared before the Georgetown Magistrate Court on July 27, 2026, where he entered a guilty plea. The court ordered Horne to pay a fine of $100.00 ECC and compensation to the victim in the amount of $580.00 ECC by September 30, 2026. If he fails to pay the fine, he faces one month at His Majesty’s Prison, while defaulting on the compensation will result in a four-month prison sentence.
Carpenter Sentenced for Grievous Bodily Harm
On July 26, 2026, police arrested Xennol Morgan, a 40-year-old carpenter from Arnos Vale, for inflicting grievous bodily harm. The charges follow a July 24 incident in Arnos Vale where Morgan unlawfully and maliciously struck and kicked a 38-year-old domestic worker about her face and body.
Morgan pleaded guilty during his appearance at the Calliaqua Magistrate Court on July 27, 2026. He was handed a one-year prison sentence, which was suspended for one year. Additionally, Morgan was ordered to pay a $2,000.00 ECC fine and $2,000.00 ECC in compensation to the complainant within three months. Should he default on these payments, he will be required to serve six months at His Majesty’s Prison for each unpaid amount.
