Police arrested and charged Damon Mason, 41, a machine operator of Ottley Hall, following the seizure of an AR-15 rifle and ammunition during a stop-and-search operation at Nine Steps, Kingstown, on September 10, 2026.
Mason was charged with possession of one AR-15 prohibited firearm, serial number unknown, without the authorization of the Minister, and possession of nineteen (19) rounds of 5.56 mm prohibited ammunition, also without the required authorization.
He appeared before the Mesopotamia Magistrate’s Court on September 11, 2026, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Mason was granted bail in the sum of EC$20,000.00 with one surety and was ordered to surrender all travel documents. Stop notices are to be placed at all ports of entry and exit.
He was also ordered to report to the Central Police Station every Tuesday and Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
The matter was adjourned and transferred to the Serious Offences Court for September 17, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
The charges remain allegations to be determined by the court.
