Project Pink Raises 50,000 Dollars For The Local Cancer Support Foundation

1 Min Read

After a year of planning and dedicated fundraising efforts the new non-profit organisation, Project Pink held their first handing over ceremony.

The wave of activism that the initiative inspired proved to be successful as they raised $50,000 on behalf of SCORCH, the local cancer support foundation.

In a press release, the organisation spoke of their fundraising efforts, which included branded cookie sales, a car wash in partnership with A3 Automotive, branded lipsticks and wristbands.

The support from the Caribbean diaspora was described as overwhelming. From supporters in the region and beyond, purchasing the lipsticks and wristbands to the infamous Miss Lily’s, a Jamaican restaurant in SoHo, New York hosting its own Pink Friday.

Pink Friday will forever be remembered as a nationwide awareness event that involved over 1,500 Vincentians, 15 businesses and schools.

On September 23rd, 2016, Kingstown was painted Pink! Project Pink also contributed to cancer patients throughout the previous year.

The founder, Karen DeFreitas- Fraser said the next initiative will be prostate and colon cancer; Project Blue.
