in a recent Facebook address, radio announcer and NDP activist Joel “fugitive” Bibby expressed deep frustration and a sense of betrayal by a politician within the new democratic party (NDP), a party he has long and publicly supported.

Bibby’s grievances center on being denied permission to use a “yard space” for an event, a decision he claims has caused significant financial harm to local constituents.

Bibby described the area in question not as a pristine facility, but as a messy yard filled with dry leaves and overhanging bushes.

He argued that the politician’s excuse—that the event would “contaminate” or compromise operations—was a lie, noting that the facility is not yet operational and currently has doors that do not even close.

Bibby pointed out the irony that while he was denied access, the yard remains open to stray animals and potential vandals because security is often absent.

The most emotional aspect of Bibby’s statement focused on the human cost of the cancellation. he highlighted the plight of single mothers and vendors who invested their limited savings to sell food and drinks at the event.

Specifically, he recounted the story of a woman who cried after losing 800 dollars she had intended to use for her children’s school books and shoes. Bibby stated these women were trying to work for their own money so they would not have to “beg and besiege” politicians for assistance.

To illustrate his disappointment, Bibby contrasted this experience with a past incident under the unity labour party (ULP) administration.

He recalled a time five or six years ago when a ulp politician attempted to shut down his event in Owia by organizing a competing free event.

Despite Bibby having spent that entire week heavily criticizing the prime minister and the commissioner of police on the radio, he reached out to them for help. to his surprise, the former prime minister and the commissioner intervened, allowing his event to proceed successfully until 8:00 in the morning.

Bibby concluded by accusing the current politician of abusing his authority and warned that there would be consequences for these actions.

He asserted that the politician’s electoral win was a victory for the party, not the individual, and claimed the official is now ignoring the calls of the very people who need help. his repeated refrain, “you would pay,” served as a stark warning that he does not intend to let the matter drop.
