Former SVG PM Dr Ralph Gonsalves is in London England for a series of high-level meetings and engagements related to Caribbean affairs, Reparatory Justice for enslaved African bodies and the commonwealth.
On Monday September 7th, Gonsalves met with Secretary general of the commonwealth, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, with discussions focusing on the current situation in the Caribbean countries and the directions of the commonwealth.
Gonsalves then proceeded to an event at the Jamaican mission in London where Jamaican Minister of Culture Hon. Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange, provided a report on the filing of a petition on reparations to the privy council in front of Caribbean and African diplomats as well as British parliamentarians and NGO representatives.
As part of his trip, the former St Vincent PM is providing support for the Jamaican delegation, headed by Minister Grange, which traveled to the UK to file the petition on reparatory justice.
Minister Grange later hosted Gonsalves for dinner with her and personnel from the Repair Campaign.
Today, Gonsalves hosts a session with leadership of the move towards Repair Alliance in the UK which will Include some UK parliamentarians and other high-level officials from the Caribbean and Africa.
Gonsalves is expected to return to the state on Wednesday September 9th.
