Robert Sachs, the pilot of the tragic flight that killed American actor Christian Klesper and his two kids, is a native of Springfield, New Jersey, who has been residing in Bequia.

Robert Sachs, also known as Bob Sachs, co-owned Dive Bequia, a scuba tour company in Port Elizabeth, with his wife, Cathy.

‘Bob was a legend and bigger than life character, trailblazer,’ commented one of Roberts’s friends on Scubaboard.com.

Sachs plane crashed into the water west of Petit Nevis on Thursday afternoon.

The plane took off from J.F. Mitchell Airport in Paget Farm at 12:11 p.m., bound to St. Lucia, but suffered technical issues and crashed into the ocean shortly later.

Fishermen and divers retrieved the bodies of Robert Sachs, a pilot and member of the Jonathan Dayton Regional High School Class of 1970, Christian Klepser, 51, and daughters Madita Klepser, 10, and Annik Klepser, 12.

According to authorities, all four remains were transported to St. Vincent on board the Coast Guard vessel, and their causes of death will be established by the Kingstown Mortuary.

Christian Klesper, sometimes known as Christian Oliver, was an actor who acted in films such as “Speed Racer,” “The Good German,” and “Valkyrie,” among others.
