The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services issued a 72-hour weather outlook on Friday, August 7th, 2026, advising residents of incoming Saharan dust and a transition to more unstable weather conditions through the start of next week.
Forecasters led by Joan Mc Donald have noted that while slight to moderate haze may be visible as early as Friday afternoon, a more significant patch of Saharan dust is expected to arrive by Saturday morning.
This dust is projected to temporarily create moderate-haze conditions. Residents are encouraged to take necessary precautions during this period.
As the weekend progresses, the impact of weak tropical waves is expected to increase the frequency of precipitation.
- Saturday: The day will remain occasionally cloudy with a few showers.
- Sunday and Monday: Conditions are expected to deteriorate further, with a forecast of partly cloudy to cloudy skies, scattered showers, and isolated thunderstorms across the islands.
Wind speeds are forecasted to remain gentle to moderate, ranging between 15 and 25 km/h, though they may occasionally become “fresh,” reaching speeds of approximately 30 km/h. Wind directions are expected to vary between the northeast and east-southeast.
