Sandals working with Delta, JetBlue to increase St Vincent’s airlift capacity

2 Min Read

Sandals Resort has announced that it will work with major North American carriers in order to enhance the availability of airlift capacity to St. Vincent.

According to Mr. Terence Des Vignes, the Regional Project Director of Sandals International, several airlines such as Delta and JetBlue are included in the carrier list.

“We have a company within Sandals called Unique Vacation; Mr. Gary Sadler is our main person in Unique; he’s been working with all the airlines, including Air Canada, Delta, and JetBlue”.

“They wanted to know when we were going to open, and I believe any airlift that comes in right now will be beneficial to St. Vincent. And, with the Holiday Inn hotel launching at the same time as us, it will aid the airlift while also lowering prices.”

In July, Alex Marte, vice president of airline relationships and sales development at Unique Vacations Inc. (UVI), an affiliate of Sandals and Beaches Worldwide, stated that they were particularly excited that JetBlue was interested in St. Vincent and the Grenadines as a destination. He stated that the airline would make an exploration flight to the island.

JetBlue already serves the majority of the islands served by Sandals, but discussions in July between JetBlue Airways, JetBlue Vacations, and Sandals Resorts International (SRI) focused primarily on increasing flight frequency and adding new destinations, such as St. Vincent, where SRI’s newest resort is nearing completion.

Sandals is set to open its 350-room resort at Buccament Bay in the first quarter of 2024.
