Schools in St. Vincent and the Grenadines will close at 2:00 pm on Tuesday September 27th, 2016. The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Emergency Council of NEMO this morning.
The meeting chaired by Prime Minister (Ag), The Hon. Montgomery Daniel heard reports from the heads of the various sub-committees on their readiness and preparation in the event that St. Vincent and the Grenadines is impacted.
A general consensus was taken at the meeting to close all schools at 2:00 pm to prepare the schools as most of the schools are being used as emergency shelters.
The Ministry of Education is appealing to heads of all schools that are emergency shelters to activate their shelter management teams in the event of any eventuality.
The local met office has advised that St. Vincent and the Grenadines will begin to be impacted by the system at midnight
