Former Prime Minister of St. Vincent, Ralph Gonsalves, journeyed to Castries, Saint Lucia, on Friday to witness the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre.
Gonsalves stated that his presence exemplified ongoing solidarity among Caribbean labour groups.
Also in attendance was Kishore Shallow, the newly appointed tourism minister of St Vincent.
Shallow was elected to office in the election held on November 27.
Pierre was inaugurated as Prime Minister for a second consecutive term, subsequent to his Saint Lucia Labour Party’s (SLP) decisive triumph in the December 1 general election.
Pierre, is the ninth individual to assume the office since independence in 1979 and only the third to achieve consecutive terms, following Sir John Compton and Dr. Kenny Anthony.
