Following a high court ruling in Kingstown this morning where an application by the NDP to inspect the 2015 election ballots, was dismissed, Deputy Prime Minister Louis Straker said, “the Judge has spoken, and we must accept it”.

Straker told reporters that he felt somewhat relieved, stating that it is very difficult to disenfranchise the people of Central leeward, and have what they did on December 9th, 2015 come to naught.

“ I think the judge has ruled we have to accept her ruling, you have to bear in mind that I have been in five elections, three were under the NDP and two under the ULP”.

Straker said he has no question in his mind that the people of Central Leeward have spoken through the ballots.

“ As Sir James have said, you cant win elections in the court, you have two wins through the ballot boxes”.

Straker said he is confident that what the people of Central Leeward did on December 9th, 2015 is valid, and will remain that way until the end of the electoral term.
