- Antigua diplomat Ramez Hadeed passes away
Sir Ramez Fares Hadeed, an Antigua and Barbuda diplomat, has died.
He was 80 years old when he died unexpectedly on Wednesday.
Hadeed has been a diplomatic representative of Antigua and Barbuda since 1981, serving in the country’s United Nations delegation as well as as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Syrian Arab Republic, the Republic of Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates.
For his diplomatic service, he was given the Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of the Nation (KCN) in 2001, and he was knighted as a Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of the Nation in 2022.
Antigua and Barbuda has lost a great statesman, according to Prime Minister Gaston Browne.
“His death has made our country poorer, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Hadeed family.” “We hope that his fond memories, accomplishments, and contributions will help to ease the pain of his surviving family members,” Browne stated. Hadeed will be honoured with a state funeral.
The service will be held on December 13th at 2 p.m. at the Holy Family Roman Catholic Cathedral on Michael’s Mount in St. John’s.
