Jammy Harry a St. Lucian national who was reportedly involved in the illegal withdrawal of cash from various ATM machines of the Bank of SVG has been arrested and charged by the Major Crime Unit on 9 separate charges of theft.

Harry is accused of visiting the machines of the bank at Calliaqua, Kingstown and Bequia between March 10th and 12th, and stole approximately EC$15,500.00 the property of Michelle Williams of Owia, Kervis Lewis of Sion Hill and Willis Pope of Villa.

The St. Lucian appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate Court on Wednesday, March 15th, 2017 facing the indictable charges to which he was not allowed to plea.

Prosecutor Shamrock Pierre objected to bail, he told the Senior Magistrate Bertie Pompey that the charges are serious and that the police are investigating a series of other similar offences and if bail is granted Harry may possibly flee the country.

Meanwhile, Aaron Kadoo and Mario Chitolie both from the island of St. Lucia have been arrested and charged with breaching the immigration law here.

Both men are accused of being prohibited immigrants, did enter the state by boat and disembarked without the permission of an Immigration Officer on March 10th, 2017 at Barrouallie.

The men were on Wednesday, March 17th, escorted to the Kingstown Magistrate Court before Senior Magistrate Bertie Pompey and pleaded not guilty to the charge.  Court Prosecutor Shamrock Pierre objected to bail stating that both men are non-nationals and they are of interest to the Police with regards to series of other offences and that they are also deemed flight risk.

They were remanded in custody for seven days in the first instance when bail will be reviewed. May 9th, 2017 is the date set for trial.

The Prosecutor’s objection was upheld and the matter was adjourned and transferred to the Serious Offences Court from April 20th, before Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne to have a date set for the Preliminary Inquiry.
