Today (January 31), St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) welcomed five (5) cruise ships into Port Kingstown and Port Elizabeth.

The ships include Costa Fortuna, Mein Schiff, which docked in Port Kingstown, Marella Discovery, Royal Clipper, and Le Bellot in Port Elizabeth.

The ships combined brought 8,463 passengers to the shores of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Minister of Tourism Carlos James stated last week that the St. Vincent tourism sector is expanding as the economy recovers.

“Cruise calls increased by 20% in 2023, with a 120 percent increase in cruise guests to the location over the same period in 2022.” Cruise calls to SVG increased for the second year in a row, surpassing pre-pandemic levels in 2019.

According to James, preliminary data reveals that 2023 will surpass 2022 by an exponential 83.2 percent, nearly double the previous year’s performance.
