MIAMI– American Airlines launched its new Saturday service between Miami International Airport (MIA) and Argyle International Airport (SVD) in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, becoming the airline’s 37th destination in the Caribbean.
Present from the company at SVD’s ribbon cutting ceremony was Alfredo Gonzalez, Managing Director for the Caribbean, government and airport authorities, including the Prime Minister the Honorable Ralph Gonsalves; the Minister of Tourism, Hon Cecil McKie; the CEO of the SVG Tourism Authority, Glen Beache and the CEO of Argyle International Airport, Hadley Bourne.
“This year we’ve continued growing our Caribbean footprint with new service to St. Vincent, as well as to Bonaire, both strengthening our position as the leading airline in the region,” said Alfredo Gonzalez, Managing Director for the Caribbean.
“These new destinations, as well as the number of new frequencies and new routes that we’ve launched this year, reaffirm the airlines commitment to promoting travel and tourism in the Caribbean, important economic drivers for the region.”
St. Vincent service operates on Saturdays with an Airbus A319, featuring eight seats in First Class, 24 seats in Main Cabin Extra and 96 seats in the Main Cabin, in addition to more entertainment options and power outlets in every seat.
The airline has a strong presence in the Caribbean with more than 900 weekly flights during the high season to 37 destinations.
In addition to the St. Vincent service, in June the airline launched new service to Bonaire and in 2019 will launch its sixth Cuban destination, Santiago.
