The management of St. Vincent Brewery Limited (SVBL) is currently investigating complaints from residents of Roucher Bay regarding an abnormal odour within the vicinity of the plant.
In a press release, the company said that St. Vincent Brewery is proud of its unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship. To this end, the company has arranged to fly in expert technical and environmental teams to do an assessment to make sure that our operations are done in a way that takes into account the health and safety of our employees and the people in the community.
These teams were expected to arrive in St. Vincent last week.
The company has also engaged a local environmental expert to independently review the plant’s operations and its impact on the surrounding community. The objective is to continually improve our performance in minimising adverse impacts on the environment in our processes and facilities in the best interest of our staff and the community.
“We have made several visits to the area to assure residents that we are actively investigating the situation with the goal of solving the root cause.”
“The management of St. Vincent Brewery also intends on hosting a community meeting to address and respond directly to concerns and to provide updates on our investigations and resolutions,” the release stated.
