COAST GUARD YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME 2026 SET IN MOTION

The SVG Coast Guard Service officially launched its 2026 Youth Development Programme today, Monday, July 13, at the Coast Guard Base in Calliaqua.

Held under the theme “Shaping Our Youths for Life’s High Seas,” the programme is designed to expose young people to discipline, teamwork, leadership and practical life skills in a structured environment.

This year’s programme will be delivered in four phases, with each phase lasting one week. Activities will continue through August, with the final phase concluding on August 22, 2026.

The launch also featured presentations from several supporting partners. Contributions were handed over by Mr. Sunil Smith of Sagicor, Ms. Nicole Sprott of the Modern Port Operating Company, and Mr. Greg Richards of the Bank of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Their support will assist the Coast Guard Service in creating an experience that is not only educational, but capable of strengthening confidence, responsibility and character among the participants.

The Youth Development Programme forms part of the Coast Guard Service’s continued investment in young people and its wider commitment to national development.
