- (ECGC) – St Vincent Ships EC$700,000 Worth of Flour to Cuba
St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) has supplied around EC $700,000 in flour to Cuba via the ECGC.
The East Caribbean Group of Companies (ECGC) stated that it enabled a big cargo of flour to the Republic of Cuba, which was a gift from the SVG government worth at more than EC$700,000.
“The first cargo of flour containers left Campden Parkport on Sunday, with another shipment expected within the next fortnight. This will bring the total gift amount to around 500,000 pounds of the company’s well-known quality product, Cream of the Islands Flour,” according to the statement.
According to the press release, business CEO J. Robert Cato stated, “We have worked with the Office of Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Senator Keisal Peters, and the new Cuban Ambassador, Carlos Etcheverry, to expedite this assistance to the Cuban people.” He went on to say, “We will ship a total of 10 containers in this initiative.”
“The move by ECGC is the second such major shipment in two years and comes as support to the Republic of Cuba from the Government of SVG, who has been the beneficiary of assistance from the people of Cuba in the areas of healthcare, engineering, and agricultural technology, among others, over the decades since SVG established diplomatic relations with the Government of Cuba,” according to a press release.
