Governor General, Dame Susan Dougan Leaves Office Jan. 5
St Vincent state owned radio (NBC) is reporting that Her Excellency the Governor General, Dame Susan Dougan has announced that she will demit office on January 5th, 2026.
Dougan was appointed Governor-General of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) and assumed office on August 1, 2019, becoming the first woman to hold the position, succeeding Sir Frederick Ballantyne.
A retired educator, she served as the monarch’s representative and performed constitutional, ceremonial, and community roles, having previously held significant posts like Chief Education Officer and Cabinet Secretary.
Dougan, an experienced educator, is the holder of degrees from the University of London and Southampton.
She was appointed Dame Grand Cross (GCMG) in 2020 and Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2010 for services to education and public administration.
