GOVERNMENT PROVIDING ADDITIONAL RESOURCES FOR DISPALCED FAMILIES
Government continues to pay the rent and utility bills for 928 persons housed in 254 rented accommodations across Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) who were displaced because of Hurricane Beryl.
The government stated that despite the huge financial strain this is putting on government’s resources, the ruling administration will continue to do what they can to make sure that families who have been displace by natural disasters are comfortable.
Statistics show that apart from the 928 persons in rented accommodations, there are approximately 180 persons in 10 shelters.
Persons who agreed to rent their properties to the government insisted that government pay the utility bills to avoid issues with tenants and the government agreed, the API stated.
The API release noted that 47 people (12 families and five single) are still waiting to get into touristic accommodation with the number rising.
