In St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), the recent news that the government has extended two key youth internship programmes , Support for Education and Training (SET) and the Youth Empowerment Service (YES) is a welcome development.
On Saturday the government officially announced a prolonged timeline.
Participants currently enrolled in the Youth Empowerment Service (YES) and Support for Education and Training (SET) programs will see their positions maintained through March 31, 2026.
This extension provides an additional three months of professional engagement beyond the original 2025 schedule. Prospective candidates interested in the next cycle must submit their applications by January 30, 2026, to be considered for the subsequent intake.
Following a formal review of these submissions, a new cohort of interns is scheduled to begin their placements at the start of April 2026.
The Youth Empowerment Service (YES) programme is not a recent invention but was established back in 2001. This initiative has been a consistent part of the country’s youth development landscape for over two decades by the former government.
