Saint Vincent and the Grenadines government on January 04, through its ministry of Foreign Affairs reveal a significant pivot to align its foreign policy directly with foreign investment, diaspora engagement, and national development.

The sheer scale of the personnel changes was announced by The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment and Diaspora Affairs, Honourable Dwight Fitzgerald Bramble.

The specific high-profile positions being changed include:

• The replacement of the Executive Director of Invest SVG, Mr. Glen Beache.

• The recall of the Ambassador to the Republic of China, Taiwan (Her Excellency Andrea Bowman).

• The recall of the High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (His Excellency Cenio Lewis).

• The recall of the Ambassador to Cuba (His Excellency Ellsworth John).

• The recall of the Ambassador/Permanent Representative to the United Nations (Her Excellency Inga Rhonda King).

• The recall of the Consul General in New York (Mr. Rondy Mc Intosh).

The announcement specifies a clear and ambitious timeline for these significant changes. All recalls and replacements are scheduled to take effect “by the end of February, at the latest.”

The government has explicitly stated its commitment to creating an “enabling environment for foreign investment,” enhancing “investor confidence,” expanding “trade and investment opportunities,” and “strengthening international partnerships.” This represents a significant shift, clearly aligning the nation’s international representation with the goal of producing tangible economic outcomes for the country.

A key goal of the new policy, in the government’s own words, is “deepening engagement with the Vincentian diaspora as key contributors to national growth.” This approach is designed to improve the lives of Vincentians “at home and abroad” and to enhance the diaspora’s contribution to national development.
