In a parallel effort to modernize individual tax compliance, the IRD has mandated 100% electronic income tax filing for all employees this year, officially eliminating paper returns.
This mandate follows the success of the previous year’s pilot, which saw nearly 90% of returns filed digitally.
To support the final 10% transition, the IRD has already deployed automated password reset links directly to taxpayers’ inboxes and enhanced its social media support channels to provide real-time assistance.
Official Statement from the Controller
Kelvin Pompey, Controller of Inland Revenue, emphasized that these changes are rooted in a commitment to service excellence and modernization.
“We are leveraging technology to fundamentally improve the level of our service delivery because we recognize that our citizens’ time is valuable,” said Mr. Pompey. “We have been working toward our goal to ‘ditch the line’ for some time, and we are now seeing that realized. While we expect minor challenges as we adopt these advanced systems, we ask for the public’s continued cooperation as we build a more efficient and modern revenue system together.”
