MOTHER AND DAUGHTER CHARGED WITH MULTIPLE DECEPTION OFFENCES
Police have arrested and charged Morenika Cottle, a 35-year-old votes clerk of Vermont, and her mother, Lisby Cottle, a 56-year-old unemployed woman of Vermont, in connection with a series of alleged deception offences.
Morenika Cottle was arrested on October 4, 2026, and charged with multiple counts of obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception.
The charges stem from allegations involving several complainants and a number of monetary transactions which are alleged to have occurred in Kingstown on different dates during 2026.
The individual sums forming part of the charges against Cottle vary, with the matters before the court involving several alleged transactions ranging from EC$300.00 to EC$800.00.
Her mother, Lisby Cottle, was also arrested and charged on October 4 with offences of obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception.
Those charges concern six alleged transactions of EC$450.00 each, said to have occurred in Kingstown between March and July 2026.
Both women appeared before the Serious Offences Court on October 5, 2026, where they pleaded not guilty to the charges.
They were each granted composite bail in the sum of EC$5,000.00 and were ordered to surrender all travel documents.
