The Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force Coast Guard continues the search and rescue operation for three fishermen who disappeared after a weekend fishing trip.
Among them is Vincentian Gregory Questelles. The two other fishermen are Rowel Martin and Cleofoster Jarvis. The men were last seen departing Port Wharf on Thursday 16 July aboard the vessel Lady Madesha. The men were expected to return on Saturday 18, but they were officially reported missing on Monday 20 , prompting the immediate activation of search efforts.
Captain Vaughn Simon, the Acting Commanding Officer of the Antigua Coast Guard, reported that the agency has conducted both aerial and marine surface searches around Antigua. To assist with the operation, the Coast Guard reached out to regional partners, including the St Kitts Coast Guard. Support is also being provided by the Antigua and Barbuda Search and Rescue team, and the matter has been reported to the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Guadeloupe.
Marine broadcasts have been issued to vessels operating in the waters near Antigua, Barbuda, St Kitts, Redonda, and South Bank. These broadcasts urge mariners to stay alert and report any information that might help find the missing crew. Despite these extensive search efforts, Captain Simon noted that they have not yet been successful in locating the individuals.
The Antigua Coast Guard says it remains in communication with the families of the three men to provide updates on the ongoing efforts. Captain Simon stated that the search will continue until all possible avenues have been exhausted. Authorities are asking anyone with information regarding the missing fishermen to contact them immediately.
