SVG officials off to Taiwan for disaster risk talks

Building Climate Resilience: High-Level SVG Delegation Travels to Taiwan for the World Disaster Management Alliance Assembly

A ministerial delegation from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has officially departed for Taiwan! Hon. Nigel Stephenson, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Physical Planning, together with Hon. Conroy Huggins, Minister of Fisheries, Marine and Land Conservation and Climate Resilience, and Ms. Michelle Forbes, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of National Security, Disaster Management and Immigration, are traveling to attend the inaugural assembly of the World Disaster Management Alliance.

Ahead of their journey, Ambassador Fiona Huei-Chun Fan welcomed the delegation to the Embassy for a productive pre-departure briefing to discuss disaster risk reduction, resilient infrastructure, and ongoing bilateral cooperation.

Amb. Fan also met with the delegation in the VIP lounge of Argyle International Airport (AIA) to extend her warmest wishes for a successful and fruitful mission in Taiwan.

As island nations confronting shared climate and natural hazards, Taiwan and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines remain dedicated partners in strengthening emergency preparedness and resilience.

Celebrating the 45th anniversary of our diplomatic ties, this timely visit highlights our shared dedication to mutual exchange, capacity building, and creating a safer, more resilient future for our peoples.
