St. Vincent’s Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves has praised the work of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in the area of health reform.
Since its organization as a denomination in the mid-nineteenth century, the Seventh-day Adventist Church has been advocating the counsel of the church’s primary health reformer, Ellen G. White, which emphasizes the role of lifestyle in promoting health, happiness, and enhanced spirituality.
Gonsalves commendations came as he spoke to graduates in a life skills program about his current journey to becoming more fit and eating healthier.
“More than any other church, and I’m not an Adventist, more than any other church in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the Seventh-day Adventist preach healthy living and a healthy lifestyle”.
“This is difficult for me, and please God forgive me if I’m speaking wrong here. I know the book of Leviticus says you should not consume pork, and the Seventh-Day Adventist preach that. I am not telling you I buy everything they say, but I know what I buy: they talk about healthy living, and they have some books by a woman named Ellen White that teach about healthy living; you must look them up”.
Gonsalves encouraged those graduating that even though they come from different religions, when the SDA church holds special services, especially on the issue of health reform, they must attend.
Gonsalves, who was born on August 8, 1946, is 76 years old.
