Etienne Charles a Police Constable who is currently on suspension and facing several charges including theft, robbery and firearms possession, has levelled allegations against this country’s C.O.P.
Charles has accused Acting Commissioner of Police Colin John of inflicting severe wounds to his body along with other members of the local constabulary.
Charles’ accusation came on Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018 when he along with four other accused men appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate Court to have their bail reviewed.
Charles said that when he was apprehended by the police and taken into custody and was seated in the back of the Police transport the Top Cop carried out his action upon him.
Defence Counsel Israel Bruce who represented Charles told the Court that on the date in question when he went to the station Charles had wounds to all parts of his body and since the trial time he was not allowed medical attention.
In response, Senior Prosecutor Adolphus Delpesche Charles stated that what Charles said was only an allegation.
He requested of the Court to allow investigators two more weeks to carry out further investigations regarding a capital offence before the five accused bail can be reviewed. His objection was upheld by the Magistrate.
The accused men are scheduled to re-appear in Court on October 10th, 2018 to have their bails reviewed once again.
