A resident of Diamond Estate has raised serious concerns regarding ongoing late-night disturbances and alleged police inaction surrounding a neighborhood gambling spot operating near the Solid Waste dump gap.
The resident reported that neighbors and visitors to a nearby shop have repeatedly subjected the area to loud music, gambling, and obscene language during the late-night hours.
According to the resident, the disruption worsened after the shop owner relocated the gambling spot directly adjacent to the resident’s boundary wall, which consists of a galvanized structure.
Initial attempts to resolve the matter directly yielded only brief compliance before deteriorating into arguments and verbal abuse, the resident reported.
Seeking intervention, the resident repeatedly made reports to the local police station. However, these complaints produced no assistance or enforcement. The resident expressed belief that the lack of action stems from a conflict of interest, alleging that police officers themselves are frequently present at the gambling spot.
Attempts to escalate the matter to other authorities have also failed to produce results:
Public Relations Department: The resident reportedly visited the department in Kingstown to report the situation. Officials promised to look into the matter and advised the resident to keep filing reports at the Stubbs police station, but subsequent phone calls brought no resolution.
Black Squad / Rapid Unit Base: The resident also reportedly visited the Rapid Unit Base located along the main highway in Diamond Estate. Officers at the base instructed the resident to refer the matter back to the Stubbs police station.
With recent telephone calls to the Stubbs station continuing to ring without an answer, the resident has now turned to the media appealing for official intervention.
