MET OFFICE: Tropical Storm Kirk continues to move rapidly westwards over the Atlantic Ocean.
At 5 pm, Tropical Storm Kirk was centred near latitude 9.5 North; longitude 32.3 West, or 1980 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. “Kirk ” is now moving towards the west near 23 mph.
Maximum sustained winds remain near 40 mph with higher gusts. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles from the centre.
Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours. Weakening is likely during the middle to latter part of the week.
On the present forecast track, the centre of this system is forecast to approach SVG by late Thursday.
Possible watches and warnings will be issued by the middle of next week.
