For the period, stay-over arrivals reached 9,712, an increase of 11.5%, or 998 additional visitors, compared with the same month last year. Air arrivals, which comprise stay-over and same-day visitors, rose by 11.7% to 9,747, while yacht arrivals increased by 20.3% to 2,115. No cruise calls were recorded during August.

The August results build on sustained growth in stay-over tourism during the first eight months of the year. From January to August 2026, St. Vincent and the Grenadines welcomed 86,647 stay-over visitors, an increase of 8.4%, or 6,704 visitors, over the corresponding period in 2025. Air arrivals also increased by 8.4%, reaching 86,964, while yacht arrivals grew by 3.4%.

Total visitor arrivals remained broadly stable from January to August, reaching 276,088 compared with 276,797 in 2025—a marginal difference of 0.3%. This performance largely reflects variations in cruise scheduling rather than weaker stay-over demand. Cruise visitors represent approximately 57% of year-to-date arrivals and therefore significantly influence the overall total. Looking ahead, growth in confirmed port calls provides a positive outlook, with total arrivals expected to move into growth by the end of the cruise season.

Notably, the United States remained the destination’s largest source market, contributing approximately half of the month’s stay-over arrivals. This represented an increase of 12.3% over August 2025. The United Kingdom is up 23.1%, while arrivals from Canada were relatively stable, with a marginal decline of 1.0%.

For the year to date, arrivals from the United States grew by 16.8%. Canada and Barbados also recorded growth of 8.0% and 14.9%, respectively, alongside increases from several European markets, including Norway, Italy, Switzerland, France and Germany. Despite its strong August performance, the United Kingdom recorded a year-to-date decline of 2.7%, which the Authority will continue to monitor and take action to revert.

For tourism stakeholders, the growth in stay-over and yacht arrivals presents opportunities to increase bookings and visitor spending across accommodation, transportation, tours, attractions and other local services. As such, the SVGTA encourages businesses to strengthen partnerships and offer experiences that connect visitors with the destination’s marine attractions, natural environment and Vincentian culture.

To sustain growth, the Authority is focused on strengthening air connectivity, expanding its reach in key source markets and enhancing destination competitiveness. Central to this work is the development of three core tourism pillars—Marine Paradise, Nature and Adventure, and Culture and Celebration—creating more opportunities for local businesses and communities to benefit from the visitor economy.
