Two separate police operations over the weekend have resulted in five men being charged with firearm and ammunition offences, with two illegal firearms and 21 rounds of ammunition recovered.
The arrests form part of the Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force’s continuing efforts to locate illegal firearms, disrupt criminal activity and reduce the threat posed by gun violence in communities across the country.
In the first matter, police arrested and jointly charged Zane Dopwell, 38 years old, mechanic of Walvaroo, and Kyle Ragguette, 33 years old, entrepreneur of Long Wall, with possession of an illegal firearm and possession of ammunition.
Police investigations indicate that the men allegedly had in their possession one Glock 19 semi-automatic pistol and 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition, without licences issued under the Firearms Act.
The offences were allegedly committed in Paul’s Avenue on September 26, 2026.
Dopwell and Ragguette appeared before the Serious Offences Court, where they pleaded not guilty. Bail was denied, and the matter was adjourned to October 5, 2026.
In a separate operation, police arrested and jointly charged Tearon James, 29 years old, mechanic; Terrell McLean, 32 years old, tradesman; and Akeem Peniston, 32 years old, labourer, all of Diamond, with possession of an illegal firearm and possession of ammunition.
The men allegedly had in their possession one Diamondback .380 semi-automatic pistol and six rounds of .380 ammunition, without licences issued under the Firearms Act.
Those offences were allegedly committed in Kingstown on September 26, 2026.
James, McLean and Peniston also appeared before the Serious Offences Court, where they pleaded not guilty. Bail was denied, and the matter was adjourned to October 12, 2026.
Over the course of the two matters, police recovered two firearms and 21 rounds of ammunition and placed five accused persons before the court.
