Sunday, October 03, 2021 marked an important day for the Stoney Ground Neighbourhood Watch Group (SGNWG). For the next two years, the group which has as its motto: “Looking out for each other”, will be led by President – Bianca Ince, ably assisted by Vice President – Cecile Mc. Master, Secretary -Shania Thompson, Treasurer – Desmond Williams, PRO – Don De Riggs and Committee member – Rosita King.
Although formed about two years ago, the SGNWG has made great progress with the assistance from the SVG Embassy in Taiwan, with a donation of two way radios which are used primarily for safety communications should the telephone system fail, and which will also be of great value during and following any natural disaster when commercial forms of communication fail.
The President and members of the the SGNWG use this opportunity to publicly say Thanks to the SVG Ambassador in Taiwan, H.E. Andrea Bowman for her support in organizing such important tools for the group. Since the group received their radios about three months ago, they have held weekly networks where they discuss matters of safety among each other. The gift to the group also includes solar lanterns which are especially useful during power outages during the night.
According to the PRO of the group, the next phase of the development will be to place security cameras at key locations in the neighbourhood, as this will help monitor all activity in the neighbourhood which can assist with the apprehending of criminals which will be able to monitored by all members on their smart phones. Police officers who were instrumental in the formation of the group will also have access to these cameras.
The President of the SGNWG Bianca Ince said that with the help of the entire group we are in a much better position “to look out for each other”. Other members of the Group include but is not limited to the following: Kellyann Neverson, Cindy Bailey, Celena Clouden, Bridgette Phillips, Stella King, Brenetta Dublin, Judith Thompson, Brandon Thompson, Hugh Raguette, Bertram Baptiste, Roderick King, Reynold Bailey, Joffre Christopher and Dr. Gonzalez and other Cuban medical professionals living in the hood.
