$33.7 million to assist poor and vulnerable families in 2023

The budget for 2023 includes $33.7 million for social protection

Social Protection services in St. Vincent and the Grenadines would receive $33.7 million, or 7.2 percent of the 2023 budget, to support poor and vulnerable persons and families.

Funds given under Social Protection will primarily be used to rehab/rebuild houses, particularly those affected by the La Soufriere eruption.

Improvements to rural infrastructure and other community-based services would also assist the sector.

Among the most important are:

Human Development Service Delivery Project $6.1 m

Housing Reconstruction/Rehabilitation Projects $5.5 m

Home Reconstruction Project – Phase II $7.2 m

Other important projects in the areas of Education, Community, and General Public Services are as follows:

School improvement Programme $13.2 m

Technical and Vocational Education and Training $ 3.7 m

Book Loan Scheme Phase II $1.0 m

Computer Replacement for Secondary Schools $1.0 m

Land Purchase III $4.0 m

Modern Parliament $3.5 m

Modern High Court Complex $1.0 m

Unleashing The Blue Economy (UBEC) $18.0 m

OECS Regional Tourism Competitiveness Project $7.2 m

Diamond Sporting Facility $4.0 m

Rural Development – BNTF 10 $6.6 m
