Surinam Airways, the national airline of Suriname, has announced that flights between Guyana and Barbados will resume on December 20.
Surinam Airways revealed in a statement that as part of its expansion strategy, it will launch a variety of new destinations and routes.
The route between Georgetown and Barbados will run twice a week, with links to Suriname and other destinations.
Surinam Airways has been in operation in Guyana for some years and believes that expanding its service to Barbados will help the airline increase its productivity and earnings.
According to the airline, the new service has been welcomed by officials in both Guyana and Barbados.
Surinam Airways has also stated that it is interested in connecting to a number of other locations in North America and Europe.
