The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Basketball Federation (SVGBF) proudly congratulates two members of the Men’s Senior National Basketball Team, Opong Bramble and Shad Thomas, on securing professional contracts with basketball clubs in Spain for the 2026-2027 season.
The signings represent another important milestone for Vincentian basketball and highlight the growing talent emerging from St. Vincent and the Grenadines onto the international stage.
Opong Bramble, a member of the national team since 2015, has represented St. Vincent and the Grenadines at multiple international tournaments, beginning in the British Virgin Islands, followed by 2018 in Suriname and most recently, the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers in Guyana in July 2026.
During the 2026 tournament, Bramble contributed 34 points and 27 rebounds across four games, once again demonstrating his value and experience on the international stage. Following his collegiate career in the United States of America, Bramble has built an impressive professional career, playing in Sweden, Portugal and Spain. He will now continue his professional journey with Molina Basket in Spain, having signed with the club for the 2026-2027 season.
The Federation also extends congratulations to Shad Thomas, who made his Senior National Team debut in Guyana in July 2026. Thomas immediately made his presence felt, emerging as one of the leading performers for St. Vincent and the Grenadines and providing a glimpse of the future of Vincentian basketball.
Thomas was the team’s leading scorer in three of its four games, with a total of 69 points and 34 rebounds during the tournament. A recent graduate of Azusa Pacific University in the United States, where he played collegiate basketball, Thomas will now take the next step in his career by signing with Bisbal Bàsquet in Spain for the upcoming season. The move marks his entry into professional basketball and represents a significant achievement for the young national player. His journey demonstrates the opportunities that can emerge through dedication and discipline.
SVGBF President Suzette Jackson believes that the professional achievements of players such as Bramble and Thomas will serve as an inspiration to young Vincentian athletes, encouraging them to pursue their dreams, both on and off the basketball court. She urges the nation’s youth to remain committed to their goals, work hard and never give up on their dreams.
