Coast Guard Summer Program 2024
The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force Coast Guard Services is excited to announce the commencement of its annual summer program, “Shaping our Youths for the High Seas,” beginning July 15, 2024. This year’s program, now in its 30th year, aims to equip 150 youths with essential maritime and life skills.
The 7-day program is divided into three phases:
- Phase 1: July 15 – 23
- Phase 2: July 29 – August 7
- Phase 3: August 12 – 20
Participants, aged 14-18, will receive hands-on training in seamanship, navigation, maritime safety, and boat handling. They will also learn about the history of the Coast Guard Service in SVG. Additionally, this year’s program will include a focus on essential life skills such as communication, problem-solving, and financial literacy, facilitated by our sponsor, the Bank of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
“We’re thrilled to offer this opportunity again to our young people to explore the world of the Coast Guard and gain valuable skills for their future,” said Chief Petty Officer Damion Franklyn, Coordinator of the program. “By combining maritime education with personal development, we aim to inspire and empower the next generation of leaders and adventurers.”
Registration forms are now available to the public and can be collected at the SVG Coast Guard base in Calliaqua. We encourage all interested youths to apply and take advantage of this unique and enriching experience.
