SVG Experienced 29 Days Of Rain In November

St Vincent and the Grenadines experienced rains  from the 2nd to the 30th of November 2016, a total of 29 days.

The SVG Meteorological Service says that up to three (3) inches fell on the island on Tuesday 29th November alone.

The CWSA reports that on some days the island received as much as seven (7) inches in some areas while others received up to five (5) inches.

The island has been severely affected by weather-related incidents due to a number of trough systems which began in November.

The latest trough system, which is still affecting the island, has left 177 persons in emergency shelters.

To date, the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) reports that the country recorded approximately 2.4 inches of rainfall at the E. T. Joshua Airport between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. yesterday.

Rainfall data from the Central Water and Sewerage Authority (CWSA) indicates that Spring Village (Convent) received 5.6 inches of rainfall between midnight and 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday 29th November, 2016. In Vermont (Dalaway), 4.2 inches, Congo Valley (Jennings) 8.7 inches and South Rivers 6.3 inches of rainfall during that period of time.

Unlike the passage of earlier trough systems, no deaths have so far been reported, neither have there been any official reports of injuries.
To date, the number of homes destroyed stands at  fifteen (15), the number of homes damaged, at twenty (20), homes flooded reported as six (6).
NEMO says thus far there have been fifteen (15) reported landslides, eight (8) reported damaged bridges, and eight (8) reported damaged roads.

The Roads Bridges and General Services Authority continues to conduct assessment and clean-up operations.

Wednesday 30th November 2016, marked the official end of the hurricane season.
