The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines has contributed 50-thousand US dollars to the Government and people of Ecuador, in the wake of the devastation caused by a massive earthquake earlier this month.

Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Dr. Ralph Gonsalves announced at a Prayer Service at the Community College yesterday morning that this is an initial contribution by the Government.

Prime Minister Gonsalves described the devastation resulting from the earthquake as a “phenomenal disaster,” and noted that Ecuador’s President Rafael Correa has said that the initial estimate of damage resulting from the magnitude 7.8 quake on April 16 is 3 billion dollars.
