The islands Minister of Agriculture, Saboto Caesar paid a visit to Mr Arthur Samuel’s maize field in Argyle on Thursday, December 14, 2023.
Mr Samuel is a diversified farmer who has been producing maize for more than thirty (30) years.
Recognising the negative consequences of different global and local events on SVG’s agrifood systems, Caesar underlined the ministry’s commitment to continue giving assistance to farmers across all agro-ecological zones.
With CARICOM member states supporting the 25 by 25 goal (a 25% decrease in food imports by 2025), the Minister of Agriculture advised farmers with lands in these dry areas to consider maize growing.
