1 Min Read

St. Vincent and the Grenadines may soon be an exporter of Medicinal Marijuana, this if discussions ongoing between the government and investors are formalized.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves Stated last week on the radio, that two investors have approached the government on the exporting of medicinal marijuana”.

Gonsalves said the idea would be to set up Pharmaceutical entities here to process Marijuana and export that product.

This he said would be done to countries where licenses are given to import the Marijuana medicines.

Under the existing laws of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Doctors can prescribe Marijuana if they have a clinical basis that it will assist people with arthritis and ailments, this according to Gonsalves who said he has been so advised on the matter.

Gonsalves noted that the current discussions have nothing to do with the legalization or decriminalization of Marijuana locally.

A series of consultations in several member states, to discuss medical marijuana was launched in 2016 by Caricom.
