- AMNESTY AND TARGETED OPERATIONS YEILD SUCCESS
Approximately 34 firearms and 3, 025 rounds of ammunition were recovered by the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force over a six-month period. These were recovered during both the amnesty period and other operations by the police.
In a press conference on Wednesday, July 17, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Frankie Joseph, said during the 92-day amnesty period, 18 firearms and 327 rounds of ammunition were surrendered and outside of the amnesty period, other targeted operations by the police yielded 2,700 rounds of ammunition and 16 firearms.
The 92-day amnesty period commenced on March 1, 2024 and ended on May 31, 2024.
The Deputy Commissioner also added that since then the Laws relating to unlawful firearms and ammunition have been revised with more severe penalties.
