- Police Seize Large Quantity of Drugs and Cash in Successful Operation
Demonstrating unwavering commitment to combating illegal drug activity, the Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) successfully executed a major operation resulting in the arrest and conviction of a local Athlete for drug-related offenses.
On August 27, 2024, members of the Rapid Response Unit (RRU) executed a search warrant at the home of Damal Francis in Paul’s Avenue. During the search, officers discovered a substantial quantity of illegal narcotics, including 1,273 grams of cannabis and 280 grams of cocaine, both intended for distribution.
Additionally, a significant amount of cash totaling $14,011.04ECC, which included US$679, EC$12,191.40, and BDS$5, was seized and is currently under investigation by the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) to determine its connection to illicit activities. This seizure will be subjected to the appropriate legal processes.
Francis was arrested and brought before the Barrouallie Magistrate Court on August 28, 2024. He pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to seven months’ imprisonment for the possession of cocaine. He also received a suspended sentence of seven months for the possession of cannabis.
